Possible Applications
When a hot‑rolled steel coil exits the finishing stand, any temperature drop can cause surface defects and dimensional instability. A Chromalox heating ring fitted around the downstream guide roller supplies the precise thermal input needed to keep the coil surface at the target temperature while it travels toward the cooling bed. By delivering uniform heat directly to the roller’s circumference, the ring eliminates cold spots that would otherwise lead to uneven strain, scale formation, or premature hardening of the steel skin. Because the heating element is insulated and can be mounted without altering the existing roller geometry, plant operators can retrofit existing lines with minimal downtime. The same principle is employed in the assembly of large household appliances, where heating rings warm forming dies to shape metal panels without warpage. In practice, the ring maintains the die temperature during the final bending of a steel tube, enabling the line to achieve the required dimensional tolerances without additional post‑process heating.
