Possible Applications
In a high‑speed offset printing press, the quartz burst lamp is mounted in the exposure unit that creates the image on the photoconductive drum. During each cycle the lamp emits a short, intense pulse of ultraviolet light, instantly hardening the latent image formed by the laser or LED array. This rapid curing allows the drum to be transferred to the next station without waiting for chemical development, which dramatically increases line speed and reduces waste of developer chemicals. The lamp’s reliable repeatability also supports colour‑separation workflows, where precise exposure timing is critical for maintaining registration across CMYK plates. Because the lamp can be swapped quickly, maintenance downtime is kept to a minimum, keeping the press running through long print runs. The same component is found in automated proof‑printing stations, where it triggers the exposure of test sheets for quality control. In both cases the quartz burst lamp provides the decisive light source that enables fast, accurate image reproduction without compromising print quality.
