Possible Applications
When the main drive shaft of a chemical processing pump reaches its set speed, the tachometer generator mounted on the motor delivers a proportional voltage that the plant’s control system reads as a precise speed reference. The signal is fed to the supervisory controller, where operators watch the trend on the HMI, compare it to the recipe‑defined target, and intervene if the speed drifts. By providing an instantaneous indication of rotational velocity, the device allows the operator to lock out the pump during overspeed, to trigger a gradual ramp‑down for start‑up, and to log performance for maintenance planning. In a typical refinery, the same generator is bolted to large centrifugal compressors; the speed pulse it creates synchronises the compressor’s governor and feeds the alarm system, so the operator can prevent damage caused by surge or cavitation. Because the output is a simple analog voltage, it integrates with legacy PLCs and modern DCS platforms alike, making it a versatile bridge between mechanical motion and digital control in any high‑throughput plant.
