In high-speed web offset presses, the pressure regulator sits directly in the gas train that feeds the dryer burners. These burners run continuously at temperatures precise enough to cure ink without scorching the paper. The regulator trims the incoming gas pressure to a steady level, compensating for fluctuations in the main supply or sudden demand spikes when the press accelerates. Without this stability, the flame height and heat output would vary, causing uneven drying, ink set-off on the next roller, or even paper shrinkage that misaligns the print register. Operators can adjust the setpoint from the control panel, but once dialed in, the regulator holds the pressure within a narrow band, allowing the press to run unattended through long print runs. The same part is also found in the gas lines of coating units, where it ensures the correct flow to the applicator nozzles for consistent varnish or aqueous coating thickness.
