Possible Applications
In large processing plants the left‑hand safety travel switch is mounted on the moving carriage of a conveyor, press or cutting unit to provide a reliable mechanical stop at the start of travel. When the axis reaches the designated leftmost position the switch opens its contacts, instantly cutting power to the drive motor and signalling the control system that the travel limit has been reached. This prevents over‑travel, protects the workpiece and guards operators from accidental exposure to moving parts. The device is typically integrated into the safety circuit of sheet‑metal die lines, where precise positioning of the die before each stamping cycle is critical. By guaranteeing that the slide cannot exceed its programmed stroke, the switch eliminates the risk of tool damage and reduces downtime caused by mechanical interference. In plant‑wide automation it also serves as a reference point for machine‑learning algorithms that monitor cycle times and detect abnormal motion. A typical installation is on the left side of a high‑speed stamping press, where the switch triggers a controlled stop as soon as the ram reaches its start position, keeping the line running safely.
