Every time a door handle is pulled or a window switch is pressed, the relay receives a low-voltage command from the central processor and instantly closes its contacts to route battery current to the corresponding motor or actuator. Its role is not to drive the motor directly—higher-current devices handle that—but to isolate the delicate logic circuits from the transient voltage spikes that occur when inductive loads switch on or off. By doing so, it prevents false resets of the module and extends the life of the microcontroller. The relay is typically mounted on a small printed circuit board alongside other relays and fuses, forming a compact power-distribution block that sits behind the dashboard or inside the door panel. In automated assembly lines, these relays are pre-soldered onto the board before the entire unit is tested, calibrated, and snapped into the vehicle’s wiring harness. A secondary use appears in the paint-shop conveyor systems, where the same relay sequence controls the low-voltage signals that trigger pneumatic lifts and turntables, ensuring smooth transfer of car bodies between spray booths without exposing sensitive electronics to the high-current actuators.
