Possible Applications
During the rapid opening and closing of a stamping press door, the limit switch provides a definitive signal that the safety gate has reached its fully closed position. The device is mounted on the moving door frame and is triggered by a small cam or lever as the door slides into place. When the switch contacts close, the press controller receives confirmation that the protective barrier is secured, allowing the hydraulic or pneumatic drive to initiate the stamping stroke. If the door is not fully seated, the open‑circuit condition holds the machine in standby, preventing material ejection or tool impact while an operator may be in the clearance zone. The same principle is applied on feeder and transfer units where a door or hatch must be locked before a batch of sheet metal is fed into the die. In plant environments, the switch is often linked to a programmable logic controller to log each opening cycle, facilitating preventive maintenance scheduling and compliance with safety audits.
