Possible Applications
In motor vehicle manufacturing, the rotor locking pin plays a critical role during the assembly and balancing of electric motor rotors. On high-speed rotor balancing machines, the pin secures the rotor in place while technicians attach the drive coupling or perform precision adjustments. Without this component, the rotor could shift under its own inertia, causing misalignment that would later translate into vibration, noise, or premature bearing wear in the finished vehicle’s traction motor or auxiliary systems.
The same pin is also used in final assembly lines where electric drive units are integrated into the powertrain. Here, it temporarily immobilizes the rotor shaft while workers install the stator housing or connect the resolver, ensuring that the rotor remains perfectly centered during these operations. Once the housing is bolted down, the pin is removed, allowing the motor to spin freely in its intended application—whether in a battery-electric passenger car or a hybrid commercial van. In maintenance depots, the pin reappears when technicians disassemble motors for repair, preventing accidental rotation that could damage windings or internal sensors.
