Possible Applications
In the steel industry, molten metal must be kept homogeneous and free of slag before casting or further processing. Inside the ladle metallurgy furnace, a stirring shaft drives a submerged rotor that circulates the liquid steel, ensuring uniform temperature and chemical composition. The shaft transmits torque from the external motor to the rotor blades, which create a controlled vortex that mixes alloying elements, removes inclusions, and accelerates desulfurization reactions. Operators adjust the shaft’s rotational speed and immersion depth to match the melt’s viscosity and the treatment stage, whether during initial alloying, final temperature adjustment, or slag removal. The same shaft is also fitted in smaller tundish stirrers, where it maintains flow patterns that prevent dead zones and improve casting quality. In both settings, the part’s role is mechanical: it reliably transfers motion from the drive unit to the stirring element, enabling consistent metallurgical results without direct exposure to the extreme heat of the melt.
