Possible Applications
In the steel industry, digital output modules with integrated terminal blocks are installed directly on rolling mill stands, coilers, and reheat furnaces to control high-current actuators such as pinch rolls, side guides, and hydraulic shear valves. These modules convert the mill’s central PLC signals into discrete on-off commands that energize contactors or solenoid valves, ensuring precise timing of material entry, clamping, and cutting sequences. Because the terminal block is built into the module, field wiring is simplified—electricians connect motor starters or valve coils in minutes, reducing downtime during roll changes or emergency repairs. The same modules also drive status lamps and horn relays on the operator pulpit, giving immediate visual and audible feedback when a billet is misaligned or a coiler has reached its wrap limit. In adjacent sectors like heavy-plant maintenance, identical modules are fitted to conveyor drives and dust-extraction fans, where they switch motors on and off in response to level sensors or filter differential pressure.
