Possible Applications
In precision machine tool manufacturing, the control of auxiliary motor-driven systems—such as coolant pumps, chip conveyors, and hydraulic power units—relies on compact, reliable switching devices. This electromechanical relay serves as the interface between the machine’s programmable logic and these secondary drives, allowing the control system to start, stop, or reverse motors without direct high-current wiring into the main control cabinet. Inside a CNC machining center, for example, the relay is mounted on a DIN rail adjacent to the motor starter, where it receives low-voltage signals from the PLC and closes the circuit to energize the pump that floods the cutting zone with coolant. The same relay may also be used in the tool changer’s hydraulic circuit, enabling the precise sequencing of clamps and slides that position the next tool in the spindle. Because these relays are designed for frequent switching cycles and minimal contact bounce, they prevent false starts or stalls in the auxiliary systems, ensuring uninterrupted material removal and consistent surface finish. In larger transfer lines, multiple relays coordinate the operation of chip augers and filter units, keeping swarf and debris clear of the work zone while the machine runs unattended during night shifts.
