Possible Applications
High-speed assembly lines in motor vehicle manufacturing demand precise, synchronized control of actuators that physically interact with the product. A digital output terminal provides the critical link between the central control system and the low-voltage devices that move, clamp, or eject components at each station. On a door-hinge assembly robot, for instance, the terminal energizes the solenoid that releases the hinge from its fixture the instant the vision system confirms correct alignment. In the same line, it triggers the pneumatic cylinder that pushes a completed sub-assembly onto the next conveyor only after the torque sensor on the preceding screw station reports a pass. Because these signals must switch within milliseconds to keep cycle times under 30 seconds per vehicle, the terminal’s solid-state outputs eliminate mechanical wear and contact bounce that would otherwise cause misfeeds or jams. The same hardware is also found in the paint-shop’s masking stations, where it controls the electromagnets that hold masking tape in place during spray cycles, ensuring consistent coverage without manual intervention.
