1. Purpose and scope of application
This is an educational material for technicians who perform technical maintenance of fans and ventilators in the Ukrainian industry. The guide covers balancing, belt tension, suspension lubrication and vibration control. These procedures are performed during scheduled maintenance or when vibration, improper belt tension, or suspension wear is detected.
2. Preliminary security measures
Turn off the power and install the lock on the switch before performing any work. Use personal protective equipment (protective gloves, glasses, amulets). Do not work on equipment that has a malfunction or lack of locking means.
3. Necessary tools and materials
| Tool | Specification | Quantity |
|---|---|---|
| Torque head with measuring key | The range is 10–100 Nm | 1 |
| Multimeter | Range 0–500 V, 0–200 Ohm | 1 |
| Laser for balancing | The minimum accuracy is 0.01 mm | 1 |
| Lubricant for suspensions | Specialized for fans | 1 jar |
| Oil lining | The minimum thickness is 2 mm | 1 |
| Micrometer | The range is 0–25 mm | 1 |
4. Inspection before service
| Point | Verification | Acceptance/rejection criteria | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Performing work on turned off equipment | Power off, lock installed | It is important. |
| 2 | Availability of measuring tools | All tools are in installed condition | It is important. |
| 3 | Provision of personal protective equipment | All tools are in installed condition | It is important. |
| 4 | Availability of blocking means | All tools are in installed condition | It is important. |
| 5 | Presence of lubricants | Stock of lubricants in established condition | Importantly. |
5. Step by step procedure
- Power off
Perform power off and lock the switch. Use personal protective equipment.
Note: Do not operate unless the power is off. - Fan Balancing
Use the laser to balance. Set all deviations and adjust the weight on uneven suspensions.
Note: Measure deviation no more than 0.05 mm. - Belt tension
Measure the belt tension with a micrometer. The tension should be between 10-15 N. Use a torque head to adjust.
Note: Do not tighten the belt by more than 20 N. - Lubrication of suspensions
Use a specialized lubricant for suspensions. Measure the thickness of the oil breaking pad. It should be at least 2 mm.
Note: Do not use regular oil. - Vibration measurement
Use a vibration measuring device. Vibration should not exceed 4.5 mm/sec.
Note: Do not perform work if the vibration exceeds 6 mm/sec. - Return to working condition
Return the equipment to working condition, turn off the lock, turn on the power and check the operation.
Note: Check operation at pedal speed.
6. After service check
| Test | Expected result | Actual result | Pass/Fail |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Power off | Off | Pas |
| 2 | Vibration | No more than 4.5 mm/sec | Pas |
| 3 | Belt tension | 10–15 N | Pas |
| 4 | Lubrication | Oil-resistant lining 2 mm | Pas |
7. Technical support
| Symptom | Reasons | Restorative actions |
|---|---|---|
| Big vibration | Improper balancing | Check the balancing |
| High belt tension | Incorrect installation | Set the tension in the range of 10-15 N |
| Wear of suspensions | Insufficient lubrication | Use a specialized lubricant |
| Wrong job | Locked power | Turn off the lock and turn on the power |
8. Recommended maintenance schedule
| The task | Frequency | Estimated duration | Skill level |
|---|---|---|---|
| Balancing | 6 months | 2 hours | Average |
| Belt tension | 3 months | 1 hour | Low |
| Lubrication of suspensions | 6 months | 1 hour | Low |
| Vibration test | 1 month | 15 minutes | Low |
9. Reference to spare parts
